The simple, cross-platform task manager to capture, prioritize and plan your daily work
Todoist is a task manager: an app where you write down everything you have to do, sort it by project, and get reminded at the right time. Its strength is speed of capture. Type "send the quote to Julie tomorrow 9am" and Todoist understands the date and time and creates the task. The app exists on the web, Mac, Windows, iOS, Android and as a Chrome extension, with instant sync across all your devices.
Freelancers juggling several clients who need a reliable list so nothing slips through: follow-ups, deliverables, invoices, meetings. If you work alone or with one or two partners, Todoist covers the essentials without drowning you in options. If you run projects with milestones, dependencies and a Gantt view, look at ClickUp or Asana instead. And for a visual progress board shared with a client, Trello remains a better fit.

At FreelanceKit, we picked Todoist because it is the task tool that asks the least effort day to day. Natural language input and presence on every device mean you actually use it, which is the whole point of a to-do list. The free plan lets you try project-based organization without taking out your card, and the Pro plan remains one of the cheapest in its category.
The weak point to know: Todoist is not a project management tool. No time tracking, no Gantt, no dependencies between tasks. And the 5-project limit on the free plan comes fast as soon as you want one project per client: you then have to move to Pro. Prices are in dollars, with local taxes on top.
