What is Legalstart in 2026?

Legalstart is an online platform that handles the creation and management of a business: articles of association, file, legal notice, registration, then ongoing formalities and legal assistance. The company claims more than 900,000 entrepreneurs supported over ten years and says 7 out of 10 entrepreneurs choose its creation plans. In 2024, it added a capital deposit solution and a business account. Legalstart is designed for businesses registered in France (a foreign freelancer based in France included).

For a freelancer, it is a way to create a SASU (single-shareholder simplified company), an EURL (single-member limited company) or a sole proprietorship without going through a lawyer or a registry. The formalities are carried out by legal formalities specialists (juristes-formalistes), who are not lawyers: the distinction matters if you have a complex legal question.

The creation plans

Here is what Legalstart's pricing page shows (as of October 2026, excl. VAT (HT), plus mandatory legal fees). For a company (SASU, EURL, SAS, SARL), there are three plans: Starter at €0, Standard at €99 and Premium at €199. For an SCI (property holding company), the prices are €0, €169 and €229. For an auto-entreprise or a sole proprietorship, the Standard plan costs €59 and the Premium €99.

The Premium plan highlights generation of the articles of association, the legal notice, the guarantee against rejection by the registry (greffe), obtaining the Kbis (company registration extract), an interview with a creation expert, priority processing within 24 business hours and unlimited assistance. The 24-hour period is Legalstart's processing of the file once it is complete, not the time to obtain the Kbis, which also depends on the administration. The fees to add

The price of a plan is not the total cost. The mandatory legal fees (registry, legal notice, etc.) always come on top, and they are yours to pay whatever the plan. Legalstart assistance is free for 30 days, then costs €29.90 a month, with no commitment, to put your questions to a legal formalities specialist by phone, e-mail and chat. To compare seriously, think in terms of total cost over the first year, not the entry price.

On Trustpilot, Legalstart shows 4.5/5 ("Excellent") from 7,592 reviews as of 7 October 2026, 1,276 of them in the last twelve months, a recent and credible rating. On Google, the listing shows 4.4/5 from 16,913 reviews. Customers praise the listening, the speed of processing, the clarity of the instructions at each step and a price seen as fair, with advisers sometimes named for their availability.

The criticism exists and is about the same topic: missed processing deadlines, a lack of communication once payment is made, and difficulties getting refunded. To read these ratings in context: according to Trustpilot, Legalstart regularly invites its customers to leave a review, replies to 100% of its negative reviews, usually within 24 hours, and may use AI to write its replies.

What we like less

Three reservations. First the entry price: the €0 of the Starter plan covers neither the legal fees nor the assistance after 30 days. Then the support, provided by legal formalities specialists and not lawyers, which limits tailored advice. Finally the follow-up: some reviews describe delays and little news after payment, which matters when you are waiting for your Kbis to invoice.
