What is Beehiiv in 2026?

Beehiiv is a platform to create, send, grow and monetize a newsletter. It brings together the email editor, a website, landing pages, growth tools and an ad network, and was founded by former Morning Brew employees, a media company born from a newsletter.

For a freelancer, the value is building an audience that belongs to you: a list of subscribers you talk to regularly, that you can grow with recommendations and, if you want, monetize through paid subscriptions or advertising. It is not a bulk-sending tool: it is a personal media platform.

Pricing: free, then based on subscriber count

Here is what Beehiiv's pricing page shows (checked in October 2026, in dollars, annual billing). The Free plan is $0 with no time limit, up to 2,500 subscribers, with unlimited sends, website, landing pages and recommendation network. The Lite plan is $49 per month for 1,000 subscribers (up to 100,000 subscribers): it adds paid subscriptions, the ad network, automations, polls and A/B tests. The Pro plan is $95 per month (up to 250,000 subscribers): it removes the beehiiv branding and adds advanced analytics, webhooks, dynamic content and priority support. Enterprise is on quote.

The price follows the size of your list: the amounts above apply to 1,000 subscribers, and the page offers a slider for other volumes. Annual billing saves up to 20% compared to monthly. Lite and Pro offer a free trial without a credit card.

Monetizing: 0% commission

This is what sets Beehiiv apart: from the Lite plan, the platform advertises 0% commission on paid subscriptions and digital products. You only pay Stripe's processing fees, which are 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. The built-in ad network shows an average revenue of $39 per month, according to the pricing page: this is an order of magnitude from the vendor, which depends on the size and topic of your list.

What users say

On Trustpilot, Beehiiv shows 4.0/5 from 402 reviews as of October 7, 2026, including 196 in the last twelve months. We did not find a usable Google listing.

To read this rating with some distance: several negative reviews we read do not come from customers, but from recipients who receive unwanted emails sent from newsletters hosted on Beehiiv, with the "powered by beehiiv" mention. Beehiiv replies to these reviews by reminding that spam is forbidden by its terms of use and pointing to its reporting form. The platform replies to 100% of negative reviews but, according to Trustpilot, has not recently invited its customers to leave a review: we therefore do not have enough detailed reviews from creators to identify a trend on support.

What we like less

Three reservations. The interface and support are in English, which matters if you write for a French-speaking audience: you can write in French, but the tools are not. Then the price, which rises with the size of your list, which makes comparisons with other tools tricky before you know your volume. Finally, the beehiiv branding stays visible until you have the Pro plan at $95 per month.
