The online design editor to create visuals, presentations and marketing materials without graphic design skills
Canva is an online design tool built for people who are not designers. You pick a design type (Instagram post, presentation, business card, flyer, resume, LinkedIn banner), start from a template and customize it by drag and drop: text, colors, photos, icons. No heavy software to install, everything runs in the browser, with desktop and mobile apps and an offline mode if you need them.
Freelancers who have to produce visuals without it being their job: consultants preparing a client presentation, writers illustrating their LinkedIn posts, coaches building training materials, online sellers dressing up their product pages. If you design web or mobile interfaces for clients, Figma will suit you better. If you are a graphic designer making a living from retouching or illustration, Adobe Creative Cloud remains the reference.
Prices are shown in dollars on Canva's French page, with a monthly billing option whose rate is shown at checkout. Prices checked on canva.com in November 2026.
At FreelanceKit, we picked Canva because it is the tool that saves a freelancer the most time on a need everyone has: looking professional without paying a designer for every visual. The free plan is not a crippled demo, it really lets you turn out a clean presentation or banner in twenty minutes. And once your business justifies the subscription, Pro fixes the two irritants of the free plan: premium elements and the lack of a real brand kit.
The weak point to know: prices are shown in dollars and billed yearly, $144 in one go for Pro. The AI tools, heavily promoted, are capped by a monthly quota even on paid plans. And on the free plan, you regularly hit a premium template or element you cannot use without paying, which gets annoying in the end.
